Small (2-3.5 mm), usually slender flies with reduced wing venation. Costal vein twice broken, subcostal vein reduced, fading distally, not reaching wing margin, no basal crossvein and no anal cell, anal vein reduced; postocellar setae cruciate, vibrissae present, no lower fronto-orbital setae, 1 long proclinate and reclinate ors each.
